Mariska Veres

Yesterday Mariska Veres, Dutch singer and member of Shocking Blue, died of cancer at the age of 59.
Mariska and Shocking Blue are best known for their international hit Venus in 1969 (no. 1 in the U.S.A.), and covers by other bands like Bananarama (Venus) and Nirvana (Love Buzz).

one of the first 45's i bought was Venus, $2.50 aussie dollars maate if i remember.

Thanks for the Love Buzz and 2 other tracks by ms Veres.

I really wish these artists didnt have to die(dont get me wrong, i appreciate the post) to inspire a tribute.

I fell in love with Mariska when I first saw her on TV performing *Venus* She wasn't a classic beauty but definitely had something about her.She had a certain air of mystery. I'm suprised to learn she never married, I wouldn't have minded snapping her up myself.
RIP Mariska...you'll be missed.
