Dutch (or more accurately Frisian) Fado

In response to Matt's post, here's some really great Fado from the Netherlands by Nynke Laverman. For her first album, Sielesâlt, she translated poems of J.J. Slauerhoff to Frisian and turned them into beautiful Fado songs. Her second album, De Maisfrou, came out recently (and is a huge succes in the Netherlands) and contains lyrics by the Frisian poet Albertina Soepboer.

p.s. i'm doing a follow-up Fado post featuring the young, modern master Mariza (w/ a bonus Carlos Peredes track). guess it's Fado week @ Splendida
